The oil that started it all for me, I’m never without it in my kit. The peppermint plant is a hybrid of watermint and spearmint and was first described by Carl Linneaus in 1753. A high menthol content—like that found in doTERRA’s peppermint essential oil—distinguishes the best quality peppermint from other products.
Frequently used in toothpaste and chewing gum for oral hygiene, peppermint also helps alleviate occasional stomach upset and promotes healthy respiratory function. Peppermint continues to be one of the best-selling favorites among doTERRA essential oils.

Renowned as one of the most prized and precious essential oils, Frankincense has extraordinary health benefits.
In addition to its notoriety in the New Testament, the Babylonians and Assyrians would burn frankincense in religious ceremonies and the ancient Egyptians used frankincense resin for everything from perfume to salves for soothing skin. TEA TREE (aka Melaleuca)
More commonly known as Tea Tree, Melaleuca essential oil has over 92 different compounds and limitless applications. The leaves of the Melaleuca tree were used by the Aborigines of Australia for centuries. They would crush the leaves and inhale the oil to promote feelings of clear breathing and apply the leaves directly to the skin for a cooling effect.
Tea tree is best known for its purifying properties. It can be used to cleanse and purify the skin and nails and to support a healthy complexion. Tea tree can be used on surfaces throughout the home to protect against environmental threats.

Go for tea tree to help break negative ties in these kinds of relationships so that new, healthy connections may be formed that honour one’s personal space and boundaries.

Oregano is one of the most potent and powerful essential oils in the Home Essentials Kit, and yet I often find it’s one of the least used. Read on to find out more about taking advantage of nature’s powerhouse.
This incredible oil has been used for centuries in traditional health practices for its cleansing and immune-boosting properties. The primary chemical components of oregano are carvacol and thymol, both in the phenols group, which possess cleansing and antioxidant properties. Due to its high phenol content, caution should be taken when inhaling or diffusing oregano; only one to two drops is needed.
Additionally, oregano is a “hot oil” and should be diluted with doTERRA’s fractionated coconut oil (FCO) when applied to the skin to reduce the risk of sensitivity.
Oregano is also a popular cooking spice, and supports healthy digestion. Oregano acts as an enhancer and equaliser in essential oil blends and can help support healthy respiratory function.
How I use oregano:
~ Added to the immune bomb blend with frankincense, lemon, tea tree and On Guard (protective blend) to support the immune system when it’s fighting the lurgy.
~ One drop added to a pasta sauce at the end of cooking adds a fantastic depth of flavour, especially when you don’t have time for a long slow simmer. Rosemary and basil work very well too.
~ Oregano added to a plantar wart daily can assist with healing and removal.
~ I consider oregano to be nature’s antibiotic and use it topically whenever the lurgy fight is on.
~ Add to a spray bottle with water and use as a household cleaner.
~ Diffuse to support healthy respiratory function.
Emotionally, oregano is the Oil of Humility and Non-Attachment. It cuts through the fluff of life and teaches individuals to do the same. It removes blocks, clears negativity and cuts away negative attachment.

Emotionally, On Guard is the Oil of Protection. It’s protective properties extend beyond the physical level by aiding individuals in warding off energetic parasites, domineering personalities and other negative influences.

This incredibly versatile and protective oil is available neat or pre-diluted in a Touch roller bottle for easy, no fuss topical application.
EASY AIR (clear blend). AKA (respiratory blend)
Easy Air is a remarkable blend of essential oils including laurel leaf, peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree, lemon, cardamom, ravintsara, and ravensara. Easy Air maintains feelings of clear airways and easy breathing while minimising the effects of seasonal threats.
Apply Easy Air topically to the chest, back, or bottom of feet, or diffuse at nighttime to calm the senses and promote a restful sleep.
How I use Easy Air:
~ Diffuse at night for when chest or sinus congestion is a problem. It’s beautiful with a drop of lavender to help support restful sleep.
~ Applied to the chest and soles of the feet instead of over the counter clearing blends which often contain harmful petrochemicals.
~ Diffuse with On Guard (protective blend), this is especially excellent in winter when the germs are around.
~ Add 2 drops each of Easy Air, lavender, lemon and peppermint to a nasal inhaler for the best itchy-sneezy-sinusy blend I’ve found. Using this has kept me off antihistamines. I make the same blend into a 10ml roller bottle diluted with fractionated coconut oil (this blend is with me permanently through spring!).
~ Diffuse with lemon for an uplifting and cleansing morning aroma.
~ Easy Air has been replied upon heavily in our house when Miss Sprout had chest congestion and respiratory issues. Let’s just say my love for this blend knows no bounds…
Emotionally Easy Air is the Oil of Breath. It addresses the inability to let go of grief and pain. The individual in need of Easy Air struggles to breathe and feels suffocated by sadness. The lungs and air passages become constricted, preventing air and emotion from releasing. Easy Air encourages individuals to release grief and sadness, and to receive genuine love and healing.
Easy Air is available as a neat essential oil blend, or a pre-diluted Touch roller bottle for easy, no fuss topical application…ideal for middle of the night needs.
DIGEST ZEN (internal blend, aka digestive blend)
I can tell you hand on heart – this is an essential oil blend you don’t ever want to be without.
DigestZen is known as doTERRA’s legendary “tummy tamer” due to its ability to aid in digestion, soothe occasional stomach upset, and maintain overall digestive health. This unique blend contains ginger, fennel and coriander to help ease occasional stomach discomfort, including motion sickness and indigestion, while peppermint, tarragon, anise, and caraway aid with digestion and help maintain a healthy gastrointestinal tract.
DigestZen is great to have on hand when stomach upset occurs and is safe and HIGHLY effective. DigestZen is a healthy, natural, and gentle way to soothe an upset stomach or maintain a healthy digestive system.
How I use DigestZen:
~ Diluted in a roller bottle for topical use, or I grab the Touch roller. I find is the the easiest way to use DigestZen, just grab it whenever you have digestive upset and roll it around and over the belly button.
~ Keep DigestZen on hand when you know you’re going somewhere with heavy meals of food you wouldn’t normally eat. DigestZen gets a work out for us at Christmas, Easter and birthday parties.
~ Dilute and apply to the soles of the feet of kiddos when dodgy tummy bugs are around. We use this up to every 15 minutes when the bug is at it’s worst.
~ Inhale straight from the bottle or apply to a cotton pad and sit it in the air conditioning vent in the car to help ease feelings of motion sickness.
For all things tummy related, DigestZen is honestly your best friend. Even if it’s something as simple as over eating, or eating on the run (who hasn’t done that with kiddos?!) this is absolutely the tool you need, I can’t speak highly enough of it.
Emotionally, DigestZen is the Oil of Digestion. While this blend was formulated to support the physical body, it also has a powerful emotional quality for supporting individuals who lack interest in life and the physical world. The individual may have a tendency to “bite off more than they can chew”. This overload of information and stimulation may lead to an emotional form of “indigestion”, where the individual cannot break down life experience into palatable forms. DigestZen supports the body and spirit in assimilating new information and events. It aids individuals in digesting life’s many experiences.
The legendary “tummy tamer” is available neat or pre-diluted in a Touch roller bottle for easy, no fuss topical application. This is soooo perfect when you hear “Mum, I feel sick” and a rush to the toilet in the middle of the night!
ICE BLUE (athletic blend), aka Deep Blue (soothing blend)
Ice Blue is perfect for a soothing massage after a long day of work and a big winner particularly with men. If you have a partner who’s skeptical about the effectiveness of essential oils give them some Ice Blue to try, it’s well know as the “man converter”!
Wintergreen, camphor, peppermint, ylang ylang, helichrysum, blue tansy, blue chamomile and osmanthus work together to soothe and cool. This is your natural alternative to over the counter muscle relaxant creams, and in my experience much more effective.
How I use Ice Blue:
~ I dilute the Ice Blue essential oil blend with doTERRA’s unscented hand and body lotion to create a soothing rub. I massage this into my neck when I’ve slept crooked or spent too long at the computer.
~ When I’m experiencing nasty muscular pain I layer Ice Blue and frankincense on the affected area and massage in. This has provided me with excellent relief, Husbandy is a fan too.
